Carlton Alfred Smith (1853-1946) was a popular English watercolourist and painter of domestic scenes. His romantic, sometimes sentimental compositions are usually flooded with strong sunshine and frequently suggest a nostalgic and blissful contentment in the simple pleasures of life. He exhibited widely and was a member of the Royal Academy of Art.
